The North Anatolian Fault in Turkey is known to have the westward migrations of large earthquakes. In the future, there is a risk of a large earthquake in the Marmara Sea. This special issue is a collection of papers on the geometry and potential dynamics of the North Anatolian Fault system in and around the Marmara Sea and on the assessments of seismic risks including Tsunamis. These studies are supported by MarDIM project, a joint effort of Turkish and Japanese scientists financially supported by JICA, JST and the Ministry of Development in Turkey.
