Featured article on 2016 Kumamoto earthquake
The complex rupture process of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake sequence is an important phenomenon to understand the nature of earthquake occurrence in complex faulting zones. Yagi et al. (2016) found that the rupture process of the mainshock and the distribution of aftershocks were influenced by the high temperature area around the magma chamber of Mt. Aso. Their results have a great impact for many seismologists who are interested in the seismicity and the seismic source process of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake.
